Two Vancouver Island teenagers could be facing charges after a prank flooded the sunken living room of a house, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage to the hardwood floors.

RCMP in Campbell River, B.C., say the pranksters had propped a garbage can containing at least 100 litres of water against the door of a home on Ash Street on Wednesday.

When the homeowner answered the door, the can tipped over and water gushed through the front hall, spilling into the sunken living room and washing over the hardwood floors of the dining room, according to Sgt. Mallard.

From there, the water seeped through the ceiling, dripping out of fixtures lighting the rooms below.

Damage is estimated at about $20,000, not counting the cost of the two weeks the owners must find somewhere else to live while their home is repaired. Read more of the story here. [source article]

Here is what the news report has to say. The superintendent of a Pittsfield school says students suspended after a senior prank will pay damages estimated at $3,000 to $5,000.

Last week a number of students used a key to get into the Pittsfield Middle High School and then put tape over a security camera.

Reports say the students painted graffiti and some placed dead fish above ceiling tiles.

Superintendent John Freeman said between 15 and 20 students were involved.

One student felt the participants would be required to clean up the mess.

Instead, they were all suspended from school for five days and police are investigating. Criminal charges are possible.

Dr. Scott Wheeler, a pediatric urologist in Minnesota, warned parent’s about sore scrotum.

“Parents need to talk to their kids about this, and hopefully that will have an impact.”

14-year-old David Gibbons is the teen who lost a testicle. He describe the game as one to see which boy can endure the pain of a knuckle blow via a flicking motion.

David’s mom says, “This may be called a game, but it’s not a game. It’s dangerous and it needs to stop.”

Philadelphia police investigating an abduction at the Chart House along the waterfront have discovered that it was all part of a prank.

The Chart house manager spotted three men abducting another man from a parked car Wednesday afternoon. He told police, and an investigation began. Morrisvlle, Pa. ,Bucks County, police were also involved. In the end it was a bachelor party prank. But Deputy Commissioner Kevin Bethel says it cost both cities manpower:

“It’s substantial. If you remember, we went very quickly out onto the news, quickly with the vans. There’s a number of people who could have come in harm’s way looking at light vans or people driving light vans. So there was definitely a lot of time, cost and energy to the detriment of something else.” [Source]

Of course we have the police talking about how they need to charge somebody for the cost of manpower it took to go and investigate this prank. It’s not like they were doing anything else anyway. I don’t remember Jackass from MTV getting charged when they pulled this prank on their TV show.

Students said a group of students released mice and insects in the hall of Coolidge High School in Coolidge, Arizona. Minutes later the mice were being kicked and stomped by fellow students according to one student. School officials admit at least one mouse was killed but it was an accident.

One student was so upset she called and reported the incident to People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals. The group is investigating the incident but has yet to release its findings.

Be aware of a new scam going on at Facebook. It seems some ingenious pranksters are finding a new way to make a few extra bucks off of teh millions of Facebook users. They have come up with a prank that downloads an app to your PC which will then spread to all of your contacts.

Security firms are warning Facebook users to beware of what’s being called the “Candid Camera Prank” attack recently spotted on Facebook that tries to use the lure of a sexy video of a scantily clad woman on a bicycle to download a video player that’s actually Hotbar adware, and maybe worse.

Websense and Sophos are among the security firms pointing out the dangers of the “sexiest video ever” trick, posted automatically on users’ profile pages, that shows a message posted on the walls of Facebook users, seemingly by their friends, of a movie thumbnail of a woman on a bicycle wearing a short skirt in a video entitled “Candid Camera Prank.”

Sophos researcher Graham Cluley, who blogged about the attack, writes, “If you click on the thumbnail, you don’t view a video at all but instead are taken to a Facebook application,” which tries to get each victim to download a video player that’s actually an application that will install the Hotbar adware “to generate revenue for the bad guys.” Thousands of Facebook users appear to have been fooled by the Candid Camera prank video lure.

Seems like some kids in Ohio are finding out the hard way that it this is not the same country their parents grew up in. In the not so old days you would get a slap on the wrist when you pulled a prank on your high school just before graduation, but now a days you are dealing with a whole new bread of law enforcement.  Just ask these unfortunate students from Lockland High School just north of Cincinnati Ohio.

A group of about 20 teenagers entered Lockland High School Thursday, intending to move all the books from the school library to its cafeteria, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported. The prank failed when the students found the library doors locked.

Police from six different jurisdictions converged on the school, responding to a report of a break-in, and arrested 12 of the students on adult felony charges. Some younger participants in the prank faced charges of trespassing and curfew violations.

Some parents complained police were too harsh in handling the incident and said they were upset their children, many college-bound, were facing felony charges. Yeah, I would think they would be. They are treating these kids that were just trying to pull a prank on their friends and fellow classmates like they are hardened criminals.
